Looking Back and Moving Forward: Journeys of Resilience


Entries closed at 4pm 28 February 2021


  • There will be four categories:
    • Visual Arts: painting, drawing, sculpture, etc, film and other moving images
    • Performance: eg. dance, spoken word, puppetry, circus, illusion, mime, etc
    • Sound & Music: eg. song, instrumental, soundscape
    • Writing: eg. Prose, poetry, fiction, non-fiction, short stories, essays
  • All works must be submitted using the online entry form
  • Festival Theme: Looking Back and Moving Forward: Journeys of Resilience.
  • All entries must follow the theme
  • The Competition is open to all artists
  • Entries must be original and completed for this festival and not presented elsewhere prior
  • Works containing pornography or promoting violence will not be accepted
  • The Competition is limited to women and young women (14-25) who reside in the Shoalhaven City Council region.
  • There is a limit of one entry per artform section per participant
  • A separate entry form must be completed for each section
  • Accepted entries will be published in the festival gallery


  • There is no cost to enter
  • A separate entry form must be completed for each artform section


  • File size should not exceed 5MB
  • for larger files such as sound, music, and film, please provide a link to a work uploaded to either Vimeo or Youtube or Soundcloud- these links will be displayed on the IWD website artform pages.
  • File formats accepted are: .jpeg, .mp3, .pdf, .docx, .wav, .tiff, .gif, .mov
  • use the following file naming convention:
  • First Initial_surname_brieftitle, (eg j_smith_landscape1.jpeg)
  • File name no longer than 50 characters
  • Subject of the email should be IWDF_Your name


  • Entries will be accepted until 4pm 28 February 2021
  • Approval is at the discretion of the Organiser
  • Entries will be displayed online when approved


  • The Competition is organised by Shoalhaven International Women’s Day Committee (The Organiser) and The Organiser has the right to refuse publication.
  • By submitting an entry through the online form on this website the Participant agrees to these Entry guidelines.
  • By entering the competition, the Participant acknowledges that the submitted artwork is an original work created solely by the Participant, that the work does not infringe on the copyrights, trademarks, moral rights, rights of privacy/publicity or intellectual property rights of any person or entity, and that no other party has any right, title, claim, or interest in the image
  • All the copyrights during and after the competition belong to the Participant.
  • The Organiser may showcase the artworks taking part in the Festival on its website and social media and use them for marketing purposes


  • Prize winners and highly commended entries will be selected by a panel of three judges in each section

Winners will receive the following prizes:          

  • Open Section $250.00 prize money in each section – Visual Arts, Performance, Sound & Music and Writing
  • Young Women (14 -25) $250.00 prize money in each section – Visual Arts, Performance, Sound & Music and Writing

Highly Commended – certificate

  • The judges decision will be based on concept, execution, originality and relevance to the theme
  • Winners will be announced and be displayed online from 4pm Monday March 8
  • The Winners will be informed personally via email
  • Winners and Highly Commended will be announced at the IWD picnic on 7 March
  • The decisions of the judges is final and no correspondence will be entered into


  • The Organiser reserves the right to modify the Rules without informing the Participants beforehand
  • The Organiser is not held responsible for any damage or loss experienced as a result of participating in the competition by the Participant
  • The Participant’s name will be displayed on the website along with her submission/s
  • The winning Participant’s name will be displayed in the winners list on the Organiser’s website
